- There will be no escape for the wicked (Luke 17:1-2; Psalm 11:4-5; Psalm 34:18)
- Risk following God's plan for reproof and repentance (Luke 17:3; Leviticus 19:17; Quote; Romans 12:19)
- Even the remnant requires forgiveness (Luke 17:4; Leviticus 19:18; John 16:33; Micah 7:18-19)
Luke 17:1-2
1 One day Jesus said to his disciples, "There will always be temptations to sin, but what sorrow awaits the person who does the tempting! 2 It would be better to be thrown into the sea with a millstone hung around your neck than to cause one of these little ones to fall into sin.
Psalm 11:4-5)
4 The LORD still rules from heaven. He watches everyone closely, examining every person on earth. 5 The LORD examines both the righteous and the wicked. He hates those who love violence.
Psalm 34:18
18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.
Luke 17:3
3 So watch yourselves! "If another believer sins, rebuke that person; then if there is repentance, forgive.
Leviticus 19:17
17 Do not nurse hatred in your heart for any of your relatives. Confront people directly so you will not be held guilty for their sin.
Dick Tibbits
While none of us can know for sure where life will take us, we do know there will be potholes and detours along the way. To think that your life will be perfect and nothing will ever go wrong is a serious self-deception. So, since you know you will need to forgive someone in the future, why not practice forgiveness every chance you get? Become an expert at living the forgiving life. Each time you forgive, it becomes easier to forgive the next time. - p.166
Romans 12:19
19 Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, "I will take revenge; I will pay them back," says the LORD.
Luke 17:4
4 Even if that person wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks forgiveness, you must forgive.
Leviticus 19:18
18 Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against a fellow Israelite, but love your neighbor as yourself.
John 16:33
33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.
Micah 7:18-19
18 Where is another God like you, who pardons the guilt of the remnant, overlooking the sins of his special people? You will not stay angry with your people forever, because you delight in showing unfailing love. 19 Once again you will have compassion on us. You will trample our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean!
